I got a Sultai kit yesterday and looked at my rares and decided to go all in on Sultai. I built the Golgari half and splashed for blue just to get my graveyard stacked. Lie in Wait was putting up numbers for me all night. I had a Betor and all I did with him was bin him and Lie in Wait for removal.

#MtGTarkir is a fun limited environment. We literally did the thing where by turn 2, each of us is at 22 life and on turn 3 we start wailing on each other. This PR did me some good. Sultai (Simic or Golgari core) did not disappoint.

My 4th match I got a bye essentially cuz my opponent dipped out and forfeited. Yay, free booster pack

My 3rd match was against an old college friend I hadn't seen in a decade. I spent that game just touching base, laughing and swapping stories about playing Magic in other countries. He kicked my face in with Eshki and the 2/5 elk that becomes a 5/2 on his turn.

My second match was a MARDU go-wide aggro deck. I HAD TO SIDEBOARD SO MUCH REMOVAL AFTER GAME 1. White Mobilize/Endure can get out of hand, jeez. Pulled off a solid win and that game came down to Dragon on Dragon violence.

My first match was against an Abzan splashing for red. Each game was 4 turns of ramping and then slamming flyers and deathtouchers at each other. I lost only because I was down to 5 life as opposed to my opponent's 7 after our last 5 turns.

My LGS has never had THAT many players even on a day 2 evening pod. There were 20 players today. No one pulled an Elspeth, nor an Ugin, nor a Craterhoof, but our games regularly came down to each player at 3 life and rallying with every dragon we could throw.

I don't wanna stress over everything too much cuz that's bad for my health on so many levels. Not to mention trying to quit smoking too. I just have to take this one day at a time. Jeez I need a smoke or three...

Work hasn't been all that great either but that whole fiasco is it's own story at this point...

I don't wanna worry my family too much especially since I don't wanna take away any mental bandwidth from them since my sister is getting married next week and I don't think she'd appreciate my bullshit right now...

But my entire forray into living on my own has been a complete and utter disaster. I'm able to hide the fact that I'm in shambles for the most part but I really need to come clean with all this...

I've just been so stressed out especially with my work's moving offices not to mention my own moving out of this current flat I'm renting. On top of everything that's going on, I'm trying to prove to my family that I'm a responsible adult that's able to stay on top of things...

But the payment takes 2 to 3 banking days to reflect on the power company's accounts. Now I gotta go to the business center in the morning to pay the reconnecting fee and dispute that I've paid the initial unpaid balance...

I miss them and I should go home.

I don't know where to go with this, really. It should have stopped at, "Pops died 10 years ago, and I still miss him everyday."

I've exiled myself away from my remaining family as a prodigal son, foolishly thinking to make it big out here, hoping things will make sense along the way...

I take no pleasure in having nothing to regale to them but the chic, fresh, new form of anxiety and dread I've garnished myself with. The happy cool fun things are still under NDA and what little I can tell them of the new paradigms and specifications fly over their heads. Yet, I do it all the same.
