I haven’t played 0 for quite a while now so I’m not sure, but that one takes place in the 80s during the Japanese bubble economy, so I think they’re a lot of late 80s arcade games

I think Yakuza is a lot more straightforward than Shenmue, Yakuza tells you where you need to go to advance the plot, where Shenmue wants you to feel like you live in the world, for better or worse lol. Also Yakuza feels like what Shenmue would have turned into if it hadn’t taken such a long break

The only time I’ve ever played Sonic the Fighters (or Virtua Fighter lol) was in a Yakuza game! Next time I see you I’ll lend you Yakuza 0 since that’s probably the best place to start, haha

I would definitely say Shenmue is the most similar thing to it, tho

Hmmmmmm 🤔🤔🤔 I would say yes and no, there are a lot of mini-games that feel very Sega or just straight up ARE sega games (you can play Sonic the Fighters in an arcade in a spin-off ), but the main story has a lot of drama and there’s some tonal dissonance between main plot and *everything else*

Oh yeah, I should check out the frontiers update sometime! I beat the base game a while back, it’d be nice to return to it! And Spider-Man looks like it’ll be great, I’m sure that will take a lot of time

It’s honestly a strange beast of a series, but it has the best side story content around!

I like them a lot! Kiryu, the main character in most of them, is one of my fav characters ever lol. If you ever wanna borrow them I have them all!
