Got some fresh basil to make pizza and decided to take one of the two stalks of leaves, clip the end, dunk it in Root Boost powder and leave it in a glass of water. Hey presto, it has already formed a couple of tiny roots overnight!

Pair of Cardinals is convinced that the best nesting materials are in my back porch area, so they keep getting in and themselves trapped there.

Here's the first regrown leek which is getting pretty big by now (a few weeks after sprouting in water and then planting) -- not sure but this might be ready to harvest. 🌱

Starting to regrow lots of kitchen vegetables now - leeks, green onion, garlic, ginger root and sweet potato. My first regrown leek is looking about ready to harvest for a soup and then start regrowing again. Trying to stretch the budget a bit wherever I can, plus it's fun to grow things. 🌱

Put a garlic clove which had sprouted into water overnight and it developed roots, so trying again on planting garlic! No luck last year. 🌱

Right now it's plant-based plus anti-candida diet so unusually restricted for the next 4 months or so. I repurposed the 2nd "burger" with shirataki noodles and had a pasta dish. This was also tasty ❤️

The tiny moments of joy on a restricted diet - tonight I kludged up a lentil/mushroom/onion burger. Even made a lentil gravy/tomatoey sauce to spread on top. Tasty, plus I still have an extra burger with sauce to enjoy tomorrow. Very happy about this small win. 👍

Turns out it is dead easy to regrow a leek. This is 5 days after putting bottom 2 inches (just white part at root end) into water and using rest for leek soup. About to plant outside (and then do same again at harvest.) 🌱

JustEgg vegan egg breakfast. Made extra to add into a fried rice dish for later. I added avocado on top after taking the picture. Alternative to the H5N1 egg risk and the egg shortages in stores.

Inept DIY tip of the day - I'm trying an inverted empty growbag to protect an outdoor faucet from impending snowstorm.

Ginger plant has sprouted from the chunk of ginger root I planted. I've been using a lot of fresh ginger lately so I thought it might be good to try and grow some. 🌱

Need to start processing my harvested and dried stevia plants as I am running out of the store bought stevia! 🌱

Today working on processing sweet potatoes. I have concepts of a plan around freezing both sweet potato fries and mashed sweet potato. Also gave away a first bagful (mixing orange and purple.)
