Yesterday, we went to Middlebury College to play with their entomology students, who had prepared some fun activities and visuals to connect insects from movies and books (Naussica, Very Hungry Caterpillar, Pokemon, Avatar) to real life!

How are headlights like these legal? They are like 100x brighter than the car behind.

I'm in a small hatchback and these are blaring straight into my windshield. Another way that SUVs put everyone around them in danger.

We went to Retro Realm in Middlebury today as part of our middle school retreat week. Tons of 1990s arcade games for one flat price. Highly recommend!

I love when my students bring in science from their lives to share with me.... And yet, I was very surprised when one brought in a vial of blood so we could look at it under the microscope!

Found some great stuff in the pond at school today: a giant water bug (toe biter) with eggs on his back, a huuuge leech the size of a tongue, and a crayfish without front claws!

Remember how quicksand felt like a Very Serious Threat in elementary school?

As a K-8 teacher, I will say that hyper saturated sand is a real thing that 10-year-olds are fascinated with but not strong/smart enough to get themselves out of alone 🤣 I spent 20 minutes digging a kid out of here today

10 years ago this week, I visited my grandmother in Retireville, FL. I was craving summer and insisted we went blueberry picking. Grammy was in disbelief that I could find a U-pick anywhere in FL.

I miss my visits with her.
