I agree that life situation and power balance are more relevant than age alone after the age of 18. An age gap may be totally fine if the couple genuinely love and respect each other. For others, it could be problematic. Relationships are complex, and it's hard to make general rules about them.

To be fair, that happens in lots of countries besides USA, including here in Australia unfortunately.

You can use them for lots of things besides tea. Instant soups, noodles, hot chocolate...anything requiring very hot or boiling water.

To make it illegal for a 23 yo to have sex with a 20 yo seems very extreme to me. Most 20 yo women are already more mature than 23 yo men. When I was 20, we never looked at guys our own age. We always preferred older men.
