That’s my first argument. I’m trying to figure out how to survive trump and this flailing economy. I thought Bluesky would be a good forum to do it. And yes I am worried like millions of others. Sharing my fears and seeking help from other dems is not likely to crash the global economy.

People are free to believe what they wish and discuss what they wish on these forums. And some might just benefit from a little healthy skepticism about the robustness of FDIC and our banks.

This is a discussion among three people, not a satellite broadcast. And besides, trump has threatened to fold the FDIC into his treasury department. He’s capable of anything. I’ll discuss my concerns however I wish. I’m not alone.

Please. Are you joking? What the heck do you think happens in a recession? Banks are invested in the stock market and many other risky ventures too. Banks fail in recessions when the businesses they loaned to fail.

Research safest banks and websites that offer bank ratings. It’s the big ones I worry more about than the smaller ones.

And you’re not crazy. I also am spending as much as I can stocking up on canned and freeze dried foods.

I’ve instructed my online bank to not rollover my CDs when they come due this year. I’m going to spread them out to other banks. Been researching which banks are considered more recession proof than others. Many banks invested in commercial real estate or with too many uninsured investors may fail.

Me too, however now I’m worried about bank failures, even online bank failures. Many banks may not weather a recession and who knows if FDIC will come through under trump??
