US-based organizations (AGU, ESA, AAG…) please offer hybrid meetings to allow international students/researchers to safely participate without risking detention or deportation.

We agree + concluded: “Without paradigm shifts in wildfire response, mitigation, + governance - combined with MEANINGFUL ACTION at federal + provincial levels TO MITIGATE CLIMATE CHANGE through EMISSIONS REDUCTION BY TRANSITIONING AWAY FROM FOSSIL FUELS - BC will be overwhelmed by extreme wildfires”

What a tremendous untimely loss. I commit to breaking the barriers Kiah identified + working to provide equal opportunities to students of colour. I challenge friends and colleagues to do the same - it is more important than ever before.
