I am reminded of the protests at the Fed and am imagining what we could use to protest the inflation that is 1) being caused by trump’s insane tariffs and 2) being threatened by his Fed take-over attempts. Can’t afford to leave a pan on Capitol Hill even if we can’t afford the food to cook in it. 🍳🍱

And this, too.

Is anyone out there thinking about what we could do now to prepare for Vance, tech bro puppet, as President and whatever nightmare they’d install as VP?

Thank you-didn’t know about them! 1) There is no certainty in the AI math-it uses probabilities. 2) Say someone working on AI wanted to stop talk about climate change and a certain frog was going extinct, choices in model training and/or override code (like finding DEI) would do it. Plus:

I am always thinking about MeanCat when I read your posts, and this one reminded me of the powerful lesson of the Cowardly Lion which made me wonder had it gotten banned. Thankfully it doesn’t appear so but once was. Banning books is always stupid but is more so since the arrival of the internet.

When eating it off the spatula, these are great and wash clean in the dishwasher without prewash.

Not following this is usually a bad idea for both the speaker/author and the listener/reader. (I do not know the original source.)

I think about this post that was viral April-May of last year, versus who is in and trying to be in 47’s Cabinet. And wish deeply those who voted for this grasped the irony of their posts and how they have been used.

Chicago area here. I just woke to the sound of something rolling down my roof. Especially for folks who are lately new to snow falling, melting a little, refreezing, and repeating, be careful where you stand around homes with sloped roofs and flat roofs with icicles!

That is beautiful, thank you for sharing. I found another beautiful poem in the WSJ comments section week before last, sharing with permission:

I still pop over to the other site on a limited basis for some AI folks and saw this just now. Perhaps a new 📚 genre? If sci-fi hits too close to reality or a traditional “happy” ending feels too sweet, a hopeful book might be just right. #HOPETELLING #BookSky

I saw several versions of this when in school for predictive analytics. I just mentioned to someone on Sunday that we need to add the “next” which is going to be a big jump if we continue to allow the tech bros to eliminate regulation and Republicans to eliminate public accountability.

I found this ( y Chris Bullard) in the comments section of WSJ today. Beautiful description of our sad state.

Kevin Warsh, a past Federal Reserve Governor and married to an heir of Estee Lauder, opined on inflation in the WSJ today as he seeks an appointment from Trump. This lovely antidote was sitting in the comments section. May we stop the burning.

I have a new reason to avoid Diet Coke! Reminiscent of this gross ethics violation…

Google appears to be tweaking their “snippet” model, badly. I was looking for info about my college dorm (beautiful old building right on Lake Mich). I ignored AI overview but below that are AI-generated “featured snippets.” Their snippet was a mash-up. Scroll to links instead! L =webpage,R=snippet.

This likely feral cat wanders around our retention pond every few days. (Showed up when a nearby barn was taken down, wants nothing to do with humans so far.) Today, a cluster of migrating geese floated along following the cat prowled around. I was grateful 🙏 no conflict ensued.
