Just saying, in it's current state, it would be a KILLER Halloween costume. The eyeless sockets really draw out some Meatcanyon vibes.

Iirc one big issue with space elevators and tethered stations is that we lack a material that's able to be mass produced on that scale that can withstand the insane amounts of tensile forces.

Actually, longer. Much, much longer. We currently lack the technology required to terraform on such a scale, nor the time required to do so. Planets are BIG, way bigger than most people actually can comprehend. The time scale for such a project is thousands of years with sufficient technology btw.
