We should not have unnecessary barriers put in the way of registering to vote. It should be as easy as registering to be defended by the armed forces, protected by the Police, or treated by emergency services…. ie an automatic right. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Just said in @UKHouseofLords that political parties have been obliged over the last 25 years to declare the sources and scale of donations above a very modest amount. I asked why shouldn’t pressure groups seeking to influence the political process be subject to the same rules?

Just put forward a plan in House of Lords to end scandals over party funding by banning company donations, placing a cap on all other donations, and enable parties to campaign effectively by redistributing the £100m spent by Govt. in the last 2 elections delivering candidates’ election addresses.

We need proper reform of UKHouseofLords, based on elections with PR. Abolishing hereditary peerages will move the House in a more proportional direction in terms of votes cast, we really need to move to PR for all elections including our second chamber pempclip.blob.core.windows.net/clip/ukparli...
