And this is whataboutery. Security vetting's purpose is to manage the risk of entrusting access to valuable assets, not for identifying sexual predators, which is for the police. Obviously enough there would be quite the democratic deficit to making vetting a prerequisite of holding elected office.

Take it from someone who knows, yes it is true. Like it or not, the informed view is that you put yourself at heightened risk of blackmail by publishing pictures of your arse on the internet. Being obliged by penury to do so is also a curious definition of 'celebrating your sexuality'.

I say this particularly because putting nude photos of yourself on the internet is a life-limiting decision. You will forever - unless you are dishonest and choose to risk the career-terminating consequences of that dishonesty - fail security clearance checks for jobs you may seek in adulthood.

I worry I’m being a prude, but I’m less than sanguine about this. (Semi-)professional sport is already horribly exploitative of young people, and I find myself concerned that knowingly allowing it will normalise selling your noods on the internet as the cost of entry to professional sports.
