Francesca to the rescue! Sadly our soprano for tomorrow is unwell: Francesca Chiejina has stepped in to sing Brahms' Requiem with us instead. She has an AMAZING biography but this looks like Cornwall’s first chance to hear her. We’re very grateful and look forward to working with her.

We are sad to have to announce that one of our soloists tomorrow, Alasdair Austin, has lost his voice! Wishing you a speedy recovery, Alasdair. But we have found a replacement soloist for our St Matthew Passion tomorrow. Please offer a welcome to counter-tenor Benjamin Irvine-Capel… 🧵1/2

Basses in fine voice this evening. Our St Matthew Passion is certainly shaping up to be dramatic!

The poster for our St Matthew Passion performance will be out soon, but for a glimpse of the art work check out the new banner on this account. Ideal sculpture for this music!

I’ve just spotted that a new carol by our good friend, composer Russell Pascoe, will receive its premiere tomorrow in the live broadcast of the Advent Carol Service from St John’s Cambridge! On BBC radio 3, for all interested parties.

Mondays seem to come round faster as Messiah approaches! We hope to see you at our performance on 7th December. And if you're looking for choral music this coming Saturday, our friends the St Mary's Singers are giving a concert including Britten St Nicolas, also in Truro Cathedral.

A bright sunny morning here in Cornwall today and our regular concert hall Truro Cathedral is looking good. We look forward to singing Messiah here on 7th December, though hopefully not when frosty wind is making moan!

Thanks for feedback on Gerontius last Saturday: “both magnificent & moving”, “the choir had really stepped up a notch from our last concert”, ” the whole experience was a joy”, “commitment & sheer raw emotion”, ” the Angel’s Farewell was so beautifully sung by Frances Gregory”.
