Don’t believe all the anti 🍊💩 BS! We were warned!! Those who paid attention to the forecasters knew there was a flood watch. Only sirens would have helped, the ones voted down 5 times in the past by residents. We Texans call it FLASH FLOOD ALLEY for a sad reason! www.kvue.com/article/news...
Flash floods have long haunted the Texas Hill Country
Four of the worst floods in recent Guadalupe River history have occurred in July.

One father was aware of the flash flood watch, as we all were. He prepared for the worst. He left the truck hitched to the RV that night if they needed to evacuate. The family stayed in the RV, he jumped out into the truck and saved them all. His forethought and plan of action was amazing.

Sadly no. The Summer Camps, (about 20) there all had kids. The majority of lives lost were people by the banks and not in camp grounds. Some barely made it out due to a person banging on the RV’s sides to get out while others were still swept away. The 4th made the banks fill with campers. 😢

Also, in the hills there’s dead spots and no local news stations. The life saving mechanism would be sirens. And, many were from out of town, text messages would not have arrived without registration. We were warned the day before by officials there would be flash flooding but this was unthinkable.

I wish I had the answer for you. What I know is residents who live in the area never experienced the river rising to that level. Those not affected in past floods woke up to waist level water inside their homes. The same ones who voted down such a system 5 times. Many lost were campers too. 🥲

It’s not that the state won’t install a warning system, it’s the residents of the area who chose not to allow it. 5 times it’s been brought for a vote and each time voted down due to the maintenance cost. I remember each tragic event. Sadly, there will be others without an early warning system. 🥲

I posted a similar article with these same details. It comes down to the residents who live in the area. Five times they voted down an early warning system due to the cost. Now the extra revenue the state will bring in due to THC sales and his veto, in my opinion would be a great thing to invest in.

The residents of the area voted NOT to have an early warning system 5 times and this is the result because of the cost. It’s like telling MAGA not to vote for the 🍊💩, they do not listen. All the facts, staffing, and data has not swayed them then, now or the future

There is a reason the area is called Flash Flood Alley and it’s not the first time Youth in the area have been lost to flash floods trying to escape. It’s not that I know best, it’s that the investigation will yield the same answers we have gotten before.

Then ask them, when was the last time they remember seeing the Guadalupe River rage like that?

They will tell you NEVER because all the atmospheric conditions that came together to create this nightmare has NEVER happened.

Without an early warning system in place, all is lost from the top down.

I know the area extremely well. It is not an opinion, it is statement based on facts. I and my bestie volunteer at one of the camps. There’s miles and miles of river and on the 4th a favorite place to be for locals, campers and tourists. U’all can fight amongst yourselves but we know better

While fully staffed, we have dealt with other significant flooding events such as this one, three in my lifetime here in Texas.

Fully staffed or not, this tragedy would have occurred due to the magnitude of rain in such a short period of time. It was unprecedented and unpredictable.
July 6, 2025 at 7:17 AM
I agree. Positions are empty because of the 🍊💩 but it would have made no difference. I knew in advance of the weather pattern setting up. I pay attention to the news and weather. Most do not. If it’s not on Tik Tok it’s not seen and early warning systems were voted down for the area.
July 6, 2025 at 7:11 AM
Even if all positions were staffed, the same end result would have occurred due to the type of weather occurrence which came together. As the article states, it’s hard to to forecast these kind of rainfall rates.

Forecasts provide us with data but aren’t written in stone regardless of the staffing.
