I'm a J-E translator who currently works in-house and freelance on games, manga, and webtoon. I used to do retouch and lettering work as well. Currently based in Tokyo but I'm American.
The main thing I hate about American politics in particular now is the reliance on parasocial figurehead worship. Everything is about who has the best photo op, who can have the best witty comebacks, using young children and wives as props to look like you lead a perfect, socially acceptable life.

Trying to figure out what furniture and storage stuff to buy each month since our disposable income is super limited this year. The kitchen storage is finally workable, so this month we're buying a cheap bookshelf and probably going to prioritize buying clothes or other things for ourselves instead.

Trying to fix my sleep schedule is agony. I woke up around 3 am but I still feel exhausted and can't work up the motivation to play further in Kara no Shoujo because I know I can't get the true ending on my first run-through so now I need to backtrack.

I kind of lost it today thinking about all the bullshit happening. Now we're just giving women more reasons to blame themselves and be hyper-anxious during pregnancy. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is one of the safest medications a person can take. Typically people do take it in a low dose

In addition to the previous thread, I recently feel like I want to put a lot more effort into improving nit-picky parts of my translations, as well as expand my Japanese vocabulary and grammar knowledge even more. I'd love to enhance my creative writing ability too. I also started drawing again

It's been a very busy couple of weeks for me. I got my new residence card recently and actually got 3 years! I'm really happy since it came as a surprise.

It's been a while of living at our new place, and we both agree that if we move again before having kids, we'll probably get a smaller place. We basically have no use for the 3rd room after all, especially since neither of us does remote work.

On another note, we all have our strengths and weaknesses. An organization should try to recognize the individual capabilities of each employee and especially what they can't do well, without forcing them to fit into a role they aren't suited/motivated for. This also includes what's reasonable

Moving tomorrow! Have to set up my wifi at my new place today as well as pack everything/disassemble my bed and desk so... Pretty busy 😭 At the very least, I'm at the stage where I can mostly just throw everything in boxes without too much care.

Well my internet company turned the wifi off at my apartment 2 days early. So that's pretty fantastic!

It feels like I always mess everything up. I'm not good with people. It feels like whether I try to avoid people or not, I always ruin other people's lives or make things harder for them somehow. If I'm not there, or if I'm there. Work is an escape for me, but I'm messing up there too.

I just want to say K-Pop Demon Hunters looks really good. I don't have time to watch it, but I can tell a lot of effort was put into it and it genuinely looks like a movie that will be remembered for years to come. Bravo to the team who made it.

I'm finally getting things mostly figured out for the move, but I'm 0% packed so far... Next week is definitely going to be very difficult trying to get everything done on top of a busy work week.

Once the move is all done, I might consider starting freelancing again. It really depends if I gain extra free time on weekends or not. Both my boyfriend and I are pretty introverted and indoorsy, so I can already foresee us both working on our own projects over an entire weekend lol.

On the translation side of things, I'm very pleased with how some recent things turned out. Those translations meant a lot to me and I'm proud I could achieve what I wanted to. But now that my translations have reached a certain level, I want to find even more ways to improve.

It's crazy to think I'll be moving soon. This apartment felt like a really positive change in direction for me. I'm grateful for the happiness I was able to find while living here.
I felt like I could be happy in Japan all on my own. Then I met my boyfriend pretty much right after that lol.

It's been a long time so admittedly I don't remember how much the characters rely on Takeru, but reading Muv Luv which features a basically all-woman military force really inspired me. Unironically.

My boyfriend and I finally found an apartment and passed their screening!! I'm hoping to move in by mid/late July. The whole thing happened within just a few days, but after so many months of searching, it feels so incredible... 😭

Yuzu really is one of the best tasting ingredients used in Japanese food. It tastes so good in broth, in tea, in chocolate... Everything is better with yuzu.

This month feels much better so far. I'm still immensely disappointed in myself for this year. But I'm glad I pushed myself through something challenging. I'm very worried about a lot of things. I just can't summarize it all.
