ive even seen people who only like the pilot use it as an excuse to just shit on viv for her writing because she had other people help write the pilot and im even seeing people shit on BRANDON all because he voices katie killjoy in the series because people like her pilot va better

but making a "hazbin hotel but written like the pilot fan series" seems,,, a stretch and i understand if the OP of the tiktok didnt have bad intention but this isn't really a good idea

a fanfic of an au like that is one thing, but this is a bit much

i like the pilot too and hell, i even liked some of the older hazbin concepts back when it was part of zoophobia but i also like what we have now and im glad the main series exists so we can see more of the world (my gf was really excited to see more of heaven for example)

they don't HAVE to like the show but i really think people who only like the pilot and are constantly going "i miss how things were written in this 22 minute pilot" NEED to accept the fact that things change, every show does this and hazbin is not an exception

i know a lot of people have brought this up but its pretty clear that people got WAY to into their own headcanons for the characters and have gaslit themselves to believe thats how they behaved in the pilot and just don't wanna accept that the show turned out different than what they wanted

and its so weird because when the pilot came out i remember people actually didn't like how the characters were written (pilot vaggi was the most criticized for example) so i'm just so confused why the switch up all of a sudden????

lets be frank here we didn't know much about the characters were like from the pilot so i just generally don't understand how people can say something like "i miss pilot alastor" when there wasn't really much of him to go off from the pilot other than "hes dangerous, don't trust him"

and when a show gets picked up, things change from the pilot whether its art direction, story, designs or even voice actors (thats why i was shocked by the negative reception people had to the characters being recasted, because this is a pretty normal thing to happen with pilots?)

im convinced a lot of these pilot glazers are people who don't understand that the purpose of a pilot for an animated series is to simply pitch the idea of the show and shows what the setting is, who the characters are and what their deal is which is exactly what the hazbin pilot was

speaking as someone who did like the pilot? i can't help but be annoyed with the amount of people going "the pilot was better! i miss how pilot [character] was! the main show ruined them!" when the reality of it is that, the pilot characters weren't nearly as fleshed out as they are in the show
