Oh shoot, I never realized Igamon is a chestnut. The cowl hides it, but the original concept shows it well. The Japanese word Igaguri refers to a chestnut in its spiny burr, so him being an Iga ninja is a play on words.
Igamon and Penmon were selected in an Original Digimon Contest held for Digimon World.
