Thank you for this thread! It's been ages since I read a fantasy book, but with all the great suggestions here, I'm inspired now. :)

Absolutely loved it as a young adult. Hmm the main character is a teenager, but I wouldn't say it's *primarily geared towards teenage readers. It's a light aside, IMO. It's more about the classic tale of good vs evil, the fulfilling of a prophecy, and a great cast of characters.
