I think he was just making a one-off comment without even really considering his words. There’s unresolved tension, but it’s around his thoughts of duty and obligation rather than the relationship at its core. Poor fella is probably stressed out of his mind (I know I would be 😖)

All of my friends/peers graduated years before me, and even completed higher level degrees before I finished. It happens, and it’s okay!

Took me six years to earn my degree over three different universities, all because of financial constraints. Definitely frustrating when you do everything you’re “supposed to” and things still don’t work out. Give yourself some grace!
