Thinking about the age breaks between "maiden," "mother, and "crone" life stages.

I can't decide if I like it better at three blocks of 25 years, or four blocks of 15 years, with the first block being childhood as a "pre-maiden" phase.

Thoughts?

Last night I was sitting up and thinking to myself, "maybe there are a lot more mimics in the average D&D world than characters realize. Like, what if mimics take a while to digest things, so we're always running into mimics that are content to just serve as the everyday objects they appear to be?"

I learned something this week that I found unbearably sad... During the Great Depression and just after the Dust Bowl, when Superman was first written, it was not uncommon to find abandoned babies on roadsides, due to the terrible poverty people were experiencing. 😥

This morning I am thinking about the fact that the Star spangled banner is a song about perseverance through a seemingly hopeless situation. Maybe that idea will help you too?

Well, I finished the novel I started last Saturday. For the record, today is Tuesday. Two books in one week is bonkers fast, even for me.

I am so pleased that among my family and friends, I can use the word "xenobiologist" without having to stop and explain what it means or even really pause.

I came to the salon with 50% left in my novel, and now I'm three hours into a four-hour appointment and I'm done with it already!

I got the doggos some D&D toys from Pawp Culture. They are both adorable, but the mimic is the big hit! The beholder is layered so there will be more toys to unwrap as it gets chewed up.

I got myself a bird bath with a smart camera and solar charger, and with a big bribe of bird seed, we succeeded in capturing our first photos today!

There have been tons of finches out there for days, so it took a while for one of them to get brave enough to try the bird bath.

"Ooooh, a SPARKLY!"

...I know that magical fairy doors are popular garden decorations, but I chose a magical rodent door instead.

I put some progress pics in the slideshow.

Remember, "You can unlock any door if you only have the key."

In 10 minutes, I will be giving an interview to the Boston Museum of Play for their oral history project on women and table-top roleplaying games. It's really hitting me at this moment that my experiences are about to become part of the official record of history for our community, and I'm honored.

So we found out that Sherlock is part Great Dane. No surprise there. But I found out this week that Great Danes were bred in part to guard German royalty at night while sleeping in the royal bed chambers. This explains some things...

In one of my many cold-med fueled weird dreams last night, I dreamed that Justin and I decided to move to Wyoming and found a city for liberal folks, in order to attempt to swing the senate balance in congress.

I named it "Progress, Wyoming." And I woke up wondering how to go found a town.

So, I really enjoyed The Thunderbolts*, but I really need to know...are those scriptwriters okay? Somebody please tell me they are doing a lot of self-care!

My Scottish ancestors came to the U.S. fleeing English persecution in the 1700s. My Polish ancestors came to the U.S. fleeing Europe during WWI. I'm a descendant of refugees, and I want to keep paying it forward. Compassion is strength!

Sherlock had another loss of balance episode yesterday and I'm terrified it's something neurological that can't be treated. He's got a follow up with his vet again on Friday....

Watching The Residence on Netflix, and it's delightful, but casting Al Frankin to play a Senator was quite the statement.

I don't know what kind of nerd raves you go to, but at the one I'm at tonight DJ Kenku just dropped a synth dance mix of "Down by the River," from Baldur's Gate 3.

I was not expecting a movie about the inner politics of the Catholic Church to include a wonderfully uplifting message about the value of diversity, but the surprise was deeply pleasant. I'd recommend y'all bump The Conclave up on your watch lists.

Friendly reminder that the misinformation machine is huge, real, and targets folx of all political leanings, so we should all still be fact-checking info before we share it. I've caught two erroneous news articles feeding the left outrage machine in the past week.
