I was a little bit hoping there was some patent showing some new developments for TGAA3 or something. But I'm not disappointed!

Hall effect sensors work by detecting magnetic field strength. If you have another very strong magnetic field nearby, you'll mess up that measurement. The magnets in the console are going to be very strong and very close.
