Far from redundant - Selh'teus was basically the one character with a major tole in 2 major stories (CoP and RoV), while everyone else was primarily associated with one - the XI cast needed that kind of connective tissue, since everyone else was mostly unrelated, outside the Zilart brothers (& Lion)

I expect the answer to the 2nd part of her question is "apathy"...

None of the FFXI player species have lust as a major flaw, so the Ark Angels suffer from crippling overspecialization, the poor things.
