I like birds, and I really hope they like me too. I'm not a great photographer, but I am a great judge of the character and inner-most thoughts of birds.
This little tufted titmouse has been visiting quite a bit today, and he's absconded with an alarming amount of peanuts. These little guys are quite social and can occasionally be found hanging out in shady parts of town with other songbirds chirping out hit songs from West Side Story.

Spending almost as much time fighting at the feeder as they spend eating, European Starlings continue Europe's long tradition of displacing native populations through aggressive colonization. Despite the poor reputation, I personally enjoy these birds because they're shiny and I like shiny things.

A rare visit today, three eastern bluebirds stopping by for a quick bite. They likely all met in bird college and are getting together before the holidays. I'd imagine one of them has feelings for another from the throuple, but is worried about upsetting the group dynamic this close to the holidays.

I like to think that these birds little minds are as blown as mine would be if I was the first to stumble upon a fresh pile of pizza and cookies while out on a morning stroll.

This brave little bird has decided that bats shouldn't be the only ones that enjoy the night. As he sits alone, he feels both brave and more alive than he ever has before. He knows he's breaking the rules, but he also knows that sometimes you have to break the rules to find something extraordinary.

This little guy has spent the last 25 minutes sitting in the middle of the food dish contemplating his place in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. He watches other birds flying from one feeder to the next, looking for their next best thing but overall, he's satisfied with what he's found here.

Quite possibly the bird that I most want to have as a pet, this fluffy (ok, technically downy) boy spends his time looking at the metal post for bugs (he hasn't found any yet) and then occasionally stuffing himself with suet, oblivious to the world around him.

I don't generally like to call out the birds that come to visit for doing something questionable, but the cardinal is obviously eating finch food and the finches are definitely eating food for the cardinal. I can't know this for certain, but I believe they are protesting traditional social norms.

One of my favorite visitors at my window. Despite his red head, people tend to call him a red-bellied woodpecker. He's generally not offended by this, but does occasionally have to remind people that his "eyes are up here" when they start looking a little too closely for that mysterious red belly.
