As coal power plants go offline, data centers boot up, and more people switch to electric appliances and vehicles, the region's electrical grid is strained and there’s not enough renewable energy projected to come online to fill the gap

The jellyfish galaxy JW39 hangs serenely in this image. It lies over 900 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices.
Despite its serene appearance, it is adrift in a ferociously hostile environment: a galaxy cluster.
