The main issue is that some AAA gamesl devs have decided that 10GiB of VRAM is the minimum they're willing to put effort into looking good, leaving 8GiB sometimes looking worse than older titles.

Which is very silly considering how common 8GiB graphics cards are still very popular.

IIRC 3rd party analysis concluded that the cheapest Steam Deck SKU was being sold at a $150 loss.

It roughly means to understand something very deeply.

Why did Elon have to ruin the word grok, ugh

Who exactly do you mean with "these guys"?

English

(the corner dedicated to American comics is only a bit larger than that for Swedish manga, with equal room for DC, Dark Horse, Image, and Marvel. Absolutely dwarfed by the manga section)

I'm at the scifi and fantasy bookstore in Stockholm, and they have a lot of manga. Almost all of it is in English. I see one tiny corner dedicated to stuff translated into English. I know there used to be more, because I bought every volume of the Dragon Ball manga in Swedish here when I was a kid.

WW2 is an interesting thing to bring up considering it might not have happened, or been over much quicker, had the USSR not teamed up with the Nazis (not to mention how they continued to support Japan after they attacked the US)

My experience with fish is that less POSIX is more better.

Even run fish on my router now.

I prefer fzf's shell history search, though.

Since Typst has built in data loading functions for e.g. TOML and JSON, and much nicer scripting than TeX, next time I need to update my CV I might write everything in a data file and then load it programmatically into a template. Overkill but fun.

This may be of interest, though it's very much a WIP: myriad-dreamin.github.io/tinymist/fea...

It directly uses Typst as a library to execute a whole Typst document and then translates it into LaTeX.
Exporting to Other Markup Formats - Tinymist Docs
typlite is a pure Rust library for converting Typst documents to other markup formats. typlite's goal is to convert docstrings in typst packages to LSP docs (Markdown format). To achieve this, it run...

Orson Welles? Oh you mean the guy who provided narration for Manowar's debut album

Oh, and I must note: in today's highly connected world, the lines between "sophisticated" insane bigots and merely hateful bigots can get a bit blurred, as simple bigots get gradually radicalized by other people online.

E.g. I've seen a lot of TERFs who think Soros is producing white replacement by brainwashing white people into not having kids (by turning them trans) while also funding mass immigration.

It's a big spiderweb of insanity. /4

And alienate friends and family. Even people in their lives who are also transphobes might tire of how obsessed they are. And in my experience, these people are *always* full blown conspiracy brained antisemites too. /3
November 5, 2025 at 8:27 AM
People in this group tend to become completely insane with conspiracy theories. Rather than mere hatred, they construct a world view where trans people are simultaneously weak and strong. The degree of mental gymnastics required causes them to often become completely unable to understand reality /2
November 5, 2025 at 8:27 AM
Incidentally, I think there are two different kinds of transphobia. One which is basically the same as any random racism mixed with homophobia. It's what you see from random people who hate people who are different. The other kind is "sophisticated" and is essentially the antisemitism of misogyny /1
November 5, 2025 at 8:27 AM
Yeah. IME often the most racist areas are those that are those with the fewest immigrants.
November 5, 2025 at 7:08 AM
Yeah, just have the Makefile run `typst compile myfile.typ outfile.(pdf/html/png/svg)`

Tip: `typst watch` will auto recompile your document very quickly.

I think I will try that when I try to tackle Japanese or Spanish, but right now I'm learning Latin, so it shouldn't be very practical.
