Fan of all things pedal-powered for a sustainable future. Bristolian on loan to Wales.
I was hoping they thought to account for that in the gearing.

Tandem fixed with independent wheels? That's a special kind of lunacy.

It's always nice to see an original Xtracycle Free Radical kit in action. Doubly so when it's that well loaded and kitted out.

Possibly this seller - they're resin, so ought to light enough to hang (inelegantly) from a tree branch www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1...

Stick a dead cat on it. It'll be fine.

Dynamo StVZO compliant from B&M with matching rear light. Effectively fit and forget.

The convenience is amazing. I leave them on all the time and let the built in sensors swap between day and night modes.

That little aside about liquid salt coolant has me wondering whether Dounreay is in the spicy rocks "to-do list". Good for fans of things that go bump in the night and strange vehicles prowling beaches looking for spicy rocks that aren't where folk left them + graphite powder fire engines

Avid BB7 with Jagwire pro cables & outer is my preferred approach. Annoyingly, my Birdy came with Shimano hydros and they've been such a pain in the ass to keep bled compared to just clicking the BB7 pads in occasionally on everything else.

The team behind it recently crowd-funded a follow up about the shuttle which is also very much worth a listen. sixteensunsets.com

This feels like an open door to introduce the Japanese model and require proof of off-road storage or a suitably (very) expensive annual residential parking permit for storage on the public highway, where capacity exists. Plus employer parking levies to suppress inefficient commuting modes.

Very nice. It's really good to see Tern making such a success of the longtail.

Is it cake day at Hill?

Yeah, keeping it happily tensioned to change gear reliability tests my patience at times.

Its more the slack/squishiness in the gear train. I think the Alfine is better in that regard than the Rohloff low gears.

I have an early Alfine 11 and it's a bit of a git, tbh. Almost certainly partly my fault for using third party brifters with it. However, I still love it for urban riding and commuting. I think it might be nicer to pedal than my Rohloff too - better pedaling feedback, if that makes any sense.

This... This is an earworm that I really didn't need tonight.

Step away from the lathe.

I'll believe it when it happens. The conflict between pedestrians & cyclists is maddening. More space is definitely needed for active travel & traffic volumes are low enough that the impact on motorists will be minimal.

I'm not so sure about that. Many of Surly's range still come with a nice steel fork with disc brakes.

Thunderbird 2 in cargo bike form! I wonder if they've managed to achieve anything close to Ackerman geometry with that many steerable wheels...
