Imo this is like watching a film on 2x speed. You aren't really watching it
The ability to fast forward emulation is a godsend when you're playing old RPGs. As a kid I didn't mind and even loved the grinding because I got maybe 2 or 3 games a year and wanted them to last anyway. Now as an old fart freetime is precious so FF allows me to still enjoy them.
