A blog usually about comic books and occasionally about stuff related to them, like TV and movies based on comics. www.getoffmylongbox.wordpress.com. Can also be found on Facebook for similar nonsense.
If you've been sleeping on Pete Tomasi's Image books, don't. Rocketfellers and Hornsby & Halo are stellar. My LCS is down to filling preoders on H&H, so ask yours for a great read.

The X-Men books were doing such a good job of mostly standing separate from each other and not requiring a detailed knowledge of several years of continuity.

Then this X-Manhunt event crossover happens to screw it all up.

Of the several main X-Men books I'm reading, Exceptional X-Men feels like it's the one doing something new and fresh.
Some of that's fun new characters, but most of it is a perspective that feels like today and not just the latest chapter in a saga I've been following (off & on) since the early 80s.

Catching up on a stack of new comics that's poled up.
X-Men 10. Liking Cyclops for the first time in a long time. And he's a badass without even using his heat vision.

Hey friends, your friendly neighborhood comic shop clerk here trying to spin up this account & leave the old world behind. Feel free to recommend accounts to follow. I already poked through 4 or 5 comicky starter packs & ran the Sky Follower Bridge. What else should I do? -kjc

Headed off for the holidays, but before I go, I'll just say what a joyous present that Superman trailer was.

Santa came early with that one.

Reading Superman comics tonight, because I believe truth, justice, and hope for a better tomorrow will prevail.

Then gonna watch V for Vendetta, because sometimes the road there is rocky and we may need to remember this day.

#BargainBinMonday Silverblade 1, cover by Gene Colan. Quirky story, but Colan is always a good time on art #DCComics #comics

#DynamicDC World's Finest Comics 75, cover by Curt Swan. Poor Bruce. His bro-crushes lead to nothing but heartache. #DCComics #comics

#ThowbackThursday 35 years ago this month. Batman 436, cover by George Perez. Batmania (1989 strain) was in full swing, and this arc was pretty darn awesome. #DCComics #comics

#ReadingPile Sandman 53, cover by Dave McKean. In the midst of a periodic re-read of this series that deserves every bit of praise heaped on it. #DCComics #comics

#TrueBelieverTuesday Incredible Hulk 423, cover by Gary Frank and Cam Smith. Peter David managed a truly epic run on the book by taking it in so many directions over that time. I'm kind of fond of the Pantheon era. #Marvel #comics

#BargainBinMonday Flash 275, cover by Dick Giordano. Beat to heck, but for 50 cents, who could resist a cover so great? #DCComics #comics

#DynamicDC Mr. District Attorney 44, cover by Curt Swan. I love how diverse the genre line-up used to be at big publishers. That's now mostly been ceded to the big indys and small press. #DCComics #comics

#ThowbackThursday 35 years ago this month. Hellblazer 20, cover by Dave McKean. Someday I may get around to reading the rest of this series, but for me the original run (1- 40) by Jamie Delano is a classic that is hard to live up to. Early work by Mark Buckingham on this one, too. #DCComics #comics

#ReadingPile Invincible Iron Man 8, cover by Kael Ngu. Haven't followed the character in some time, but this series has been fun + explains just enough of what's happening in other books to be easy to follow without reading every other story. #Marvel #comics

#TrueBelieverTuesday Warlock 12, cover by Jim Starlin. Starlin pretty much defined Marvel's cosmic heroes in the 70s. Don't think latter-day attempts even come close, even his own. @Marvel

-#BargainBinMonday Sigil 6, cover by Steve McNiven. I still think it's odd how Disney is sleeping on the CrossGen IP. Plenty to mine there, both for comics and other media. Last thing we had was a samll reprint special a couple years ago, #Marvel #CrossGen #comics

#DynamicDC Action Comics 202, cover by Wayne Boring. I hate the basic idea, but you have to credit Silver Age writers with endless creative ways of Lois trying to prove Clark is Superman and failing. #DCComics #comics

#ThowbackThursday 35 years ago this month. Avengers West Coast 48, cover by John Byrne. Byrne's conflicts with editorial cut this run abruptly short. It would have been nice to see what he would have done with a nice FF-length stretch on the characters. #Marvel #comics

#ReadingPile Fantastic Four 199, cover by the underrated Keith Pollard. Got 197-199 in a 3-pack back in the day. Several decades later, once I had the app, I got to read the conclusion. #Marvel #comics

#TrueBelieverTuesday Daredevil 132, cover by Rich Buckler & Dan Adkins. These rarely showed up on the stands near me or in those 3-packs, so I really only saw DD as a guest star. #Marvel #comics
