Modern gaming tries to be too escapist imo which is ironic because modern games also try to hammer reality into peoples’ heads through metaphor. We just want to have a little fun, not escape to another world that’s trying to trick us into stressing over reality anyway so it can claim to be “art”.

I feel on an intuitive level that this can happen, BUT… not without starting at the actual beginning.

Stardew Valley is great, but it’s not the beginning.

Like even Rare didn’t just start with Perfect Dark. They made NES games and were there at the inception too

That’s what we need again.

Even if we have to live with digital downloads, we should make physical play guides and game manuals again.

Long games are great when it’s all relevant tho. FF9 is long, but almost from start to finish each moment matters. I guess because older RPGs were structured more like a novel that just happens to be packaged in a video game, so the pacing was good.

How peaceful if the solution to so many modern computer woes would just be to apply the knowledge of account types.

I started out so excited but then I don’t know where Blender ends… I kept seeing so many blender artists producing the Mona Lisa, who still had to lowball themselves to get work.
