Compare and contrast. Note that the girlfriend here is shown as looking on helplessly, whereas in the "gender flipped" version we posted before it's fine for the boyfriend to be pulling her away.

There's actually a 'distracted girlfriend' version of this meme, we noticed.

It has one key difference: in the original (distracted boyfriend) the girl is looking on in confusion. In 'distracted girlfriend' the man has his arm around her and is pulling her away.

The distracted boyfriend meme. Over the girl in the red dress is written "bluesky". Over the man who is looking at her behind in a stunning but absolutely not unusual or unexpected act of everyday sexism is written "men's football clubs who think they're trendsetters". Over the blue-shirted girlfriend who is looking at him in annoyance (you can absolutely do better, girl. we believe in you) are the words "women's clubs already here"

Not a great result for us today.

1-1 at half time, but injuries and bad luck meant we just couldn't go the distance. 5-2 win for our opponents in the end.

New season ticket cards have finally arrived, after delivery delays. Panic over!

We went with the iconic Dick, Kerr Ladies vs France photo, from the first women's international fixture, as the featured image this year.

And very occasionally, it means that as a football club we get to send letters like this, to a young girl a thousand miles away, whose dad wanted to show her that the boys at school were wrong. That football is HER game too.

And those moments feel as good as every cup win we've ever had. /4
Dear Tori, A little while back, your dad wrote to us. He told us that you were starting to become interested in football, and that you were starting to follow it together. He told us that English women’s football was of particular interest, and that he enjoyed being able to read about and watch teams like ourselves playing, with you. He said that he loved being able to show you that there are other girls and women who play football, because sometimes it can feel a bit like football only matters when it is played by boys, not girls. As you grow older as both a football player and a football fan, there will be times when you’ll find it can definitely feel this way. Most of us have felt that way sometimes, too. Mostly the people that make you feel like that do it accidentally, sometimes they say it out loud. But there is one very important thing that we want you to always remember: They are wrong. This is our game, too. In his letter, your dad asked us if we had anything - a London Seaward scarf or t-shirt, maybe a team photo - that he could buy for you. We decided that we wanted to send you something better than that. In this package, you will find the very first off-pitch replica of our new away kit. Replica shirt 0001. This is the first kit designed specifically for us, as an independent women’s football club. Our name. Our club. Our colours. We want you to have it, so you know that just as you support us on the pitch from all the way over there in America, all the way over here in England we support you too. Right now that probably won’t mean a lot. But as you get older, there may be times where you find yourself feeling like football doesn’t belong to you - to us - as much as anyone else. If that happens, read the bit in bold above to yourself three times. Then pull on your Seaward shirt. A thousand miles away every player and member of staff at this football club is standing behind you.
