I drink beer and write about it for fun. No expert but I admire those who are and I love the history
Game on… my London Beer Passport for 2026 just arrived. A great combination of new venues and offers on my favourites from last year.

Shock horror hold the front page… on holiday in Normandy and the local brewery is really rather good. I suppose not a surprise when you have a culture which loves its agricultural produce and has so much global beer expertise to draw on

Pleasant interlude yesterday in West London. You wouldn’t think a Japanese Knotweed sour - extracted in collaboration with the local council from a nearby railway embankment- would be nice, but somehow it was

Just returning from Great British Beer Festival. Congratulations to @tabamatu.bsky.social - the Level Up red ale from the naughty corner (aka Keg Bar) was the best British beer that I tasted.

Found a new favourite while in Windsor with my Beer Passport on Friday night - the tremendous “It’s Friday Somewhere Zest Coast IPA” from @indierabble.bsky.social

Great pleasure to discover Bianca Road Brew Co while taking my Beer Passport to Bermondsey on Friday night. The lemon and black pepper saison is one of the most interesting things I have tasted in a long time.

Sampling the riches of Zerodegrees microbrewery Blackheath. Dark lager and “So Mango” blond are exquisite. Thanks again Beer Passport

RIP Martyn Cornell. Proper historian and showed that beer needed the disciplines of proper history as much as any other subject does. Fitting that his last message was to correct a big brewery for getting a story wrong. Once corrected one of my blogs, but (quite) nicely

Glad that I discovered Bullfinch taproom last night (thanks Beer Passport). All beer no hype. Took away this can of delicious unfiltered session IPA

In Camden this evening so enjoying Werewolf and 3 Locks. There is another brewery in Camden as well - and I am not prejudiced against their corporate mega-parent - but when I schlepped over there I found that they had closed the bar early.
