40k has a lot more depth in lore, as would be expected from a setting that lasts this long. AoS is the reboot of old warhammer fantasy, and its lore has been shaky at times, but it does have better models. You also might want to check out space marine 2 since the episode is tied to the games' story.

What's also great is the tension it *should* create between the versatility of adding extra colour and the reliability of running less colours. Unfortunately, with the power of fetches and diluting of the colour pie, this is less so the case.

Also AI art is... not something I want to support tbh.

This. I find it hard to feel anything other than gratitude at the thought that they took time out of their life not only to read my work but also to write out what they thought didn't work. At worst, I disagree with the opinion and no big deal... but if I don't, I just got a way to improve my work.

Pull a nightmare before Christmas: Easter has had it with playing the second fiddle and wants to be on top of the holiday rankings by eliminating the competition. A whole new meaning to rabbit hunting season.

I can confirm everything felt very samey. Every class felt like it had the same options with slight reskins. I guess it made balancing easy, but the game very boring.

That depends on your definition of a flop. It did do better than 3e, but it didn't grow as much as wotc wanted/needed.
December 5, 2024 at 11:18 PM
That's very valid. To be fair, I don't think 5e is perfect, and a lot of the things it does could be done better. I just don't think it's bad to lean on houserules.

If all it is is name recognition, why was 4e a flop? The 5e system is very grokkable and light on crunch. You can write as many rules as you want, but you'll never be able to account for all the edge cases. In the end, it'll always come down to DMs ruling on the fly, it's just how overt you make it.

That's a bit harsh. I can see the merit in saying: "not every rpg needs to have a ruleset that tries (inevitably unsuccessfully) to incorporate everything and scares new people off." Leaning on houserules makes the system easier to learn and to balance, and 5e was successful because of that.

Couldn't agree more. Every flaw is just a virtue taken to excess. Healer? What is the ultimate form of healing? Necromancy. Protector of the meek? Make sure nothing could ever harm them by preventively exterminating them. Peace lover? Just mind control everyone to prevent war.

That's just his way to spread his warmth and love across the universe.

Starter pack interaction represent! While some of us might not know you personally, we presumably share at least a passion, so it gives a chance to interact if you post about that common interest. But tbf I might have gone overboard on the starterpacks xD

Ahhh, I see. I'm a bit of a ramen head and love to discuss the various types of ramen and experiment with various combinations ^^

looks good... but now I want to know what broth you went with on the ramen (the only real problem of adding too many toppings).

I mean... some might consider 5 am as still being night. I'd say that's still very consistent with the night person trait xD

Way to go ^^ personally, if I have to write on non-standard hours, I see the quality of my work go doooown.
