All in all, it's not that there's anything wrong with this type of romance (and, clearly, as an OC x canon writer, I love this shit in fanfic), but I've recognized in myself that it's not what I enjoy when I'm interacting with a game.

And, in times where they make that decision for you (I'm thinking of a certain character where they canonized an age gap relationship in their game), people get MAD because it doesn't match their vision for their PC. Which is not WRONG, per se, but it also presents a difficult challenge.

It's that lack of really deep character development that makes it so I can't fully love a PC x canon couple as I do the canon x canon pairings, because the writers of the game CAN'T write your PC for you to experience your specific PC when you're playing the game.
