Female wood duck with 14 ducklings next to a hedge in the Royal Hobart Botanical Gardens, Tasmania. Wood ducks almost always seem to be in pairs but today this female was by herself. A lone male wood duck was sitting out of sight at a fountain on the other side of the hedge.

A very large tree lies across a lonely road in The Tarkine, NW Tasmania. The tree is newly fallen (as often) in the calm weather after rain & very strong wind. It will take more than a worker with a chainsaw to clear this & take time to get a bulldozer or a tractor.

This is the pedestrian bridge 30 m above the falls. Weirdly the road passes overhead.The water is over the pedestrian bridge and there was more to come.
