one method I found is that if the id `connie` is still available, you can keep the first name as Connie and change the last name part to a symbol or emoji, which allows you to get a single-word id. this is how i get mine are.na/lok

hey i have experience with this! i think the are.na username is automatically generated (firstname-lastname-suffix). It’s likely that another account (created before yours) has already used `connie-liu`, so when you create your account, a suffix is added.
