Instead of going right up to Valeta this spot is lower down. We just sat on the wall next to the Refugio and waited.

Yes, we saw them at Refugio Vivac la Carihuela, it's at 3200 and best reached by the minibus from Albergue Universitario Gerardo Alonso.
