The problem isn’t chatGPT. The problem is that America has become a place that abhors expertise and isn’t interested in learning. We’re filled with people who don’t want to bother learning anything. They use ChatGPT as a substitute for intellectual effort. That’s the problem.

I’m a software engineer and I regularly use chatGPT to avoid tedious tasks. It’s sometimes provides useful explanations of technical issues. The thing is that the smart coders know that it ISN’T gospel. You still have to test your code and what it produces doesn’t always work.

I hope I’m dead before it’s possible to cheat on everything. AI is a great time saver with established technologies. You just better hope that you’re not faced with anything new or niche on the job. You still need to have a fundamental understanding of how shit works.
