Switch 2, Bravely Default Remaster, Mario Kart World.

The console just feels so sleek… Love it already.

Switch 2! Pulled it off!

Reading today and encountered the word ‘acme’. I realized three things:

1. It’s a real word and not just a fictional Looney Tunes company

2. It’s an excellent little joke

3. Can’t believe I didn’t know this is a real word!

Just finished this collection. I couldn’t stop thinking about the gentle terrors of Robert Aickman, the suburban nightmares of Shirley Jackson. It’s filled with broken people and the ever present spectre of death.

It’s astonishing how much has already occurred even before the game has cut me loose. I’ll be here for whatever this team puts out, especially with these games improving so drastically between titles.

As I’ve tried to enjoy writing again, games like this inspire and make me remember the beauty of it. Can’t wait to see what the next 100+ hours hold.

I’ve started my (undoubtedly slow) playthrough of Metaphor ReFantazio. I adore the Persona games, but this world is already more my speed. I love that stories already seem to be a central component, a focus on the power of hope within them.

I haven’t played Shadow of the Colossus since it originally came out and that sense of awe is still there in the remake. It’s unbelievable how massive this game feels while also being laser focused.

@lairdbarron.bsky.social I thought you’d be happy to know they’re carrying The Croning in one of O’Hare’s terminal bookstores.

Whoops, I’m playing Resident Evil 4 Remake again.

Currently playing JUSANT. It’s delightful in its epistolary moments and even better when you’re pulling yourself up a desolate mountain.

Absolute Batman has been killer so far. It feels like anything could shake out. Love this take.

I’m currently playing Persona 3 Reload.

Even after ten hours, I’m loving it. It’s focus and sheer size should be intimidating, but the game moves at such a glorious fast pace that you barely feel the hours. I feel like I’m just getting started. Love it.

Had a good gaming weekend. Platinum trophy for Spider-Man 2 and finished Fire Emblem on the Switch Virtual console. Both excellent games, both made me extremely happy.

Just left a #BatmanDay screening of The Dark Knight. The film hasn’t lost a single step. It’s still astonishing.

Clandestine government agencies. Errant radio signals. Secrets in a house at the edge of a deep forest…

‘Borderland’ is a full length play written and directed by me. I’ll be acting in it as well, backed by a talented team on and off stage.

Fascinating read so far. Makes me realize how few of these classics I’ve actually played.

Currently watching my recent pick-up from the Criterion sale. Here for the ‘90s Southern-noir.

Current project has come to life: my full length play BORDERLAND has dates set and a full cast. I’m directing as well, which is terrifying and a bit overwhelming. I forgot how much I missed the stage and these last few weeks of rehearsals has been a beautiful reminder. October comes soon.

Just rolled credits in the pretty fantastic Marvel’s Midnight Suns (on PS5). A stellar Marvel tactics game where you befriend the heroes and save reality from darkness. It’s combat is quick to grasp, but complex enough to warrant serious thought. Adored it.
