Historical perspective of existing home sales, keep it simple, rates move up, sales fall, recession happens, sales tend to grow because it's working from a low base.
Outside of 2001 recession, this has been the norm

Weekly existing home sales purcahse apps are different than the new home sales purchase apps, which just hit a post-COVID-19 high
(But it is roughly 250K of the sales peak during Covid) Even though we just hit a multi-year high in sales
