One thing the PP is definitely missing post-"the trade" is Necas' ability to enter the zone with control of the puck. There have been some moments recently where the passing has looked genuinely inspiring but they can't convert and they revert to moving the puck poorly.

It’s also why those seam passes to a guy like Aho streaking towards the net get broken up. The penalty killers haven’t stretched out of their formation, keeping them from getting a stick in the passing lane.

My impression watching the power play is that it looks like someone told them puck movement is good but never actually elaborated on that. See the 5 on 3 in Dallas. Passes back and forth but not in a manner that stretched the Dallas PK out of their formation. Canes are passing without a purpose.
