I was curious about Edmundo Sosa’s homer celebration (since he’s been able to do it a lot lately).

He said he shows the rock star signs as he touches the plate to pump up the fans.

"They've been showing more love to me, and I just try to show it back to them."

I went to the control room for a peek behind the scenes at how the PhanaVision team pulled together Jhoan Duran’s entrance in two days, and how they plan to continue to enhance it:

Inside the Phillies’ scramble to produce Jhoan Duran’s walk-out show, and what could be next
Jhoan Duran’s entrance to a game in Minnesota was epic. Of course the Phillies were going to do the same once they acquired him. But they had to act quickly.

When Dick Allen was called up to the Phillies from triple-A Arkansas, he vowed to never go back to Little Rock.

But this April, his son decided to return to the place Allen would not.

A story about remembering our history and a son’s journey to honor his father:

www.inquirer.com/phillies/a/d...
Playing in Arkansas scarred Dick Allen. Decades later, his son returned to honor his long journey to the Hall of Fame.
The 1963 season in Little Rock was brutal for Allen, and he never wanted to return. Five years after his father's death, Richard Allen Jr. did just that: “I was proud to be who I am."

The Phillies are rained out tonight. Probably a good thing for their service dog in training, Tugger, who clearly needs a nap

The Phillies played their 81st game of the season yesterday. They didn’t exactly reach the halfway point on a positive note after being swept in Houston.

“I don’t think we’ve played our best baseball.”

Rob Thomson looks to get ‘back to the basics’ at the midpoint of the Phillies’ season
Following Thursday's loss, the Phillies sit at 47-34 at the halfway marker. They look to right the ship before the All-Star break. Also, Bryce Harper is making progress toward his return.

Otto Kemp is going to see some time in LF against left-handed pitchers, according to Rob Thomson. David Peterson is scheduled to start for the Mets tomorrow.

On the work Kemp has been doing to prepare for the OF with Paco Figueroa:

Rob Thomson plans to put Otto Kemp in the outfield, and it could be as soon as Sunday
If Kemp, who mainly plays infield, can prove to be serviceable at left field, it’ll make him more versatile for when Bryce Harper returns and takes over first.

Nick Castellanos has asked the Phillies to provide him with a packet of his defensive metrics after each series, so he can start to understand them better.

He spoke about evaluating his defense and his relationship with Rob Thomson:

After Jeff Hoffman signed a three-year deal with Toronto, he shot a text to Orion Kerkering.

“He’s still going to check up with me and make sure that I’m listening to Strahm.”

Some tidbits from Kerkering, Cristopher Sánchez, and Weston Wilson today:

Orion Kerkering welcomes a bigger role in the Phillies' bullpen: ‘No pressure at all’
After the departures of Jeff Hoffman and Carlos Estèvez, the 23-year-old Kerkering is likely to see more high-leverage situations.

Max Kepler, the Phillies’ new everyday left fielder, has never played an inning of left field in the major leagues — though he did spend some time there in the minors.

The Phillies are hoping that his skills in RF will translate to the other corner:

New outfielder Max Kepler to become Phillies’ every day left fielder: ‘A big, strong guy’
Kepler has not played in left field in MLB, but played all three outfield spots as a Twins' minor leaguer. Phillies hitting coach Kevin Long was impressed with "the way the ball jumps off his bat."

“I just wanted to let him know we’re not shopping him. But because he’s a good player, there’s a whole lot of interest in him from other teams.”
