By saying that high-risk people can just "stay home" or that they'll "fall by the wayside" or that "I'm over covid," we become vulnerable to eugenicist thinking. High-risk, disabled, and chronically-ill people deserve access to public spaces and community too. 1/
Some people are confused why every "what can I do to stop fascism" conversation has suggestions to mask up N95s. In my opinion the confusion comes from underestimating the endgoal of the people we collectively just handed state power. Genocidal intent isn't always expressed via death march. Sometimes it's a statement made on TV that if you live in a blue state they'll let the fires take you or a gesture paying tribute to eugenicists. Resistance is protecting the people marked for death.
