Same thing yesterday - the winnowing isn't a natural phenomenon where people can just put their feet up and wait. bsky.app/profile/loc....
Consolidation isn't a natural phenomenon, it's forced. And the more wide the field, the tougher it becomes to convince people that they aren't just one break from moving up. It's far from an emergency at this point, but we also still have more new candidates to come. Drumbeat has to start sometime.

Yep. It seems like a pretty significant and revealing thing that a dozen of the most nominally prominent/qualified Dems in California have tried for this and nobody seems very interested in any of them so far. Obviously voters will eventually dial in but to have no energy for anyone is... something.

They’re all gonna turn on each other once the one unifying principle is gone. Total chaos.

Swalwell starts in a higher tier and largely with his own lane. If AV gets real money from the Trades, that possibly changes things. If Caruso takes the plunge (probably not) that's another one. Lots of ifs mean a long way to go before assuming this just works itself out naturally.

Basically all polling puts CA near an all GOP runoff as it stands, with the leading Dem falling back. It’s true there are lots of undecided Dems left to sort, but the busier the clown car the dicier it gets
