So a Google break-up is on the table. Google has 60 days to inform the Commission on how it plans to end its inherent conflict of interest in the adtech industry. 3/

The European Commission says it itself:
"The only way for Google to end its conflict of interest effectively is with a structural remedy, such as selling some part of its Adtech business. This seems both necessary and proportionate to effectively stop the infringement." 2/

But it is time to explore tougher measures, including targeting these corporations with retaliatory measures under the EU’s Anti-Coercion Instrument, and using export controls to limit US access to critical EU technologies. /4

The moment has come for Europe to firmly defend its regulatory sovereignty and take urgent steps to discourage further interference in its internal affairs.

At a minimum, this should include pressing ahead with ongoing investigations of US tech giants under DSA, DMA, and EU’s competition laws. /3

Despite the US-EU trade deal agreed last month President Trump is now threatening to impose additional tariffs and export controls on countries that dare to regulate American technology corporations.

Time and again, the present US administration has demonstrated that it only respects strength. /2
