Solstice hike to Seven Falls. Amazed there was any water at all as it hasn't rained in months.
Seven Falls in the Catalina Mountains outside Tucson. No falls are running but there is a pool of murky water with ridges of rocks above and golden light-lit cliff walls in the distance that reflect into the water. There are reedy plants growing at the fringes of the pool, and saguaro cactus line the ridges against the blue sky.

Fall in the desert goes on. The high is 80F today, which is somewhat higher than the normal but well below the extreme.
Looking west over Sabino Canyon Dam. in the foreground are two large saguaro cactus and more are arrayed across the distant hillside. In the middle of the picture are a mix of large eroded rocks and sandy patches, with trees turning shades of gold and brown. The sky is a mix of blue and broken clouds.

The ice and cold is here, and the storm that only brought us cold wind yesterday is coming back retrograde for more downsloping winds.

The Plains Cottonwoods are taking their time turning in Fort Collins, but some trees are getting in on the action, just in time for the first frost.
