Sadly, yes. I voted for the qualified woman, but she was too brown, too political, too "whatever" for a lot of people who should have known better than to vote for FOTUS. Now we're stuck with him and his cadre of ass-kissing sycophantic billionaires. I hear the BC Premier wants US immigrants . . .🇨🇦

Franken should never have left. Considering who we have in the Oval Office now -- and his cohort of sex pests -- Franken's actions seem increasingly less important than his voice was in Congress.

Too bad for the red states and their already disadvantaged rural students, who will pay a significantly higher price academically than students in the blue states. One of the reasons the Department of Education was created by Jimmy Carter was to address the equity issues that existed between areas.

We need to stop calling it by that acronym. Call it what it is: an invasion of privacy by a billionaire through the use of glorified hackers stealing information. It has nothing to do with "governmental efficiency" and is not a "department" that has been approved by Congress.

I have at least 5 more years to qualify a ParentPlus loan for PSLF. Already qualified on my grad school loans. If the current administration succeeds in demolishing the DoE, not sure what that does to PSLF. Keeping an eye on it; if they dismantle the program, I will likely default, as will others.

And of course, I'm awake because my alarm goes off at 5 (we have to be in building by 7:05) and snow day announcements were put off until this morning. For once, though, they announced BEFORE I was dressed. 🤣

I was happy for the first one this week: actually finished grading essays and got the S1 grades done a day early!

Just short of 90 days left here. Our state mandates 180 days. Semester 2 just started last Thursday, and we're on our 3rd snow day due to icy road conditions. We already burned 3 of our 4 "snow days" built into our calendar for the bomb cyclone in November. We're now going to have to extend the year

You are my people. I am in my 34th year of teaching. I edit my speech throughout the school day (regularly muttering "JFC" while facing away from whatever student inspired the latest one), but the current cluster fuck that is being carried out in our federal government . . . FUCK THAT NOISE.

Love the National Park Service. Frankly, not surprised they were the group to go rogue. Park Rangers are by their very nature rebels in our commercial capitalistic society. They work to conserve and protect our resources; they work for relatively low salaries, and the job means moving around.

My thoughts exactly. Performative BS: i do wonder how many of those marchers are people who actually voted for him and now regret their decisions.

We get paid for it, but at .25 its worth. So yeah, burn it.

Well then at least he couldn't have the sads because no intelligent woman wants to f@#$ him.

He called me out because I "ruined" his GPA. No, dude, YOU ruined your GPA by not being as on-task as you needed to be in 2nd semester of your junior year. It's okay -- I was forewarned by another teacher, AND I was proud of it!

"Can you just bump up my grade to an A from an A-?"
"Well, you have an A- because the quality of your work dropped off dramatically this semester, so no. I do grade bumps if a student is within 1% of the next higher grade, and you're not."

Got called out PUBLICLY in that kid's graduation address.

I had maybe one that loved me. Most found me a pain in the ass, because I questioned things. And my sons followed in my footsteps.

I'm sorry, but Piers Morgan is not someone whose assessment of another person I would take as a character reference.
