Winter evenings at Brighton Pier bring one of nature's greatest spectacles - thousands of starlings dancing across the golden sky in mesmerising murmurations.

Before all the rain lashed down on the south coast this week, there were a couple of lovely evenings accompanied by some spring low tides. This was from Monday evening on Brighton beach.

A look back at this spring in Sussex - from misty mornings on the South Downs and bluebell woods, to wild garlic and sea thrift on the coast.
Here are a few favourites, but there’s a full set of 14 images on the blog post on my website if you fancy a look:

A lovely Sunday walk on the fringes of the South Downs near Plumpton, led me back to an old favourite — this solitary tree standing watch over a golden barley field. Lovely to see summer already taking hold, with the first hints of harvest on the way.

Still feels a little early in the season — the bluebells just beginning to stir and the canopy only starting to flush with that lime green, but with soft shadows and some nice light after dawn, I managed to find a few compositions.
