In my experience, it might be reclaimed and used to describe yourself (eg in a bio) in a defiant+ironic+camp+ informal+self-deprecating way, esp around other lgbt people. Even if you'd use it for yourself, maybe not about others unless you were very familiar with them and knew they were ok with it.
