Also though, we can tell from the previews that they continue on so my guess is we're gonna find out more and he's gonna deny everything and then she's gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and just continue on.

So - he would have known she was going to be on the show. Idk if other cast members got leaked or what tbh, but that's the insinuation. Like he was watching out for her specifically and manipulating her.
