For over 2 years, we've kept a count of how many hostages are in Gaza, and until today, that included Lt. Hadar Goldin, who was killed and taken captive over 11 years ago.
Thankfully, his remains are now back in Israel and his family can now have some measure of closure.

"Globalize the intifada", a phrase he refused to condemn and even hinted at sympanty for, is a pro-Jihad ideology.

I guess my main point is this: Jewish voters do not easily shift. We're one of the most reliable, consistent voting blocs.
So 5his isn't something that just happens willy nilly. And this wasn't an easy decision, given the flaws of both candidates. But it should give folks pause.

Still, in a Democratic stronghold, erosion of any kind among one of the most engaged, informed Democratic voting blocs and reliable fundraising sources should be of concern to TPTB within the party.

And yes, to address the elephant in the room, there is some Islamophobia at play.
But Jewish issues were more centered than in most contests. And Jewish voters tend to be among the most informed/engaged. So it's reductive to pretend like Islamophobia is the central reason for this shift.

(In other words, it's an interesting case, and it shows how much a strong candidate can move the needle, even if they fall short.)

84 votes (2 percentage points) is like a landslide in an odd-year municipal election. Hartford, CT (twice the population of Macon) had a state rep seat decided by 2 votes a couple years ago.
But on the flip side, 2 percentage points is pretty slim for a 4-term incumbent who won by 14 last time.
