Reversing vaccination guidance is not only medically irresponsible—it is a deeply disheartening message to healthcare workers who bore witness to the devastating impact of COVID-19.

Medical literature shows that pregnant patients who contract COVID-19 face significantly higher risks of ICU admission, mechanical ventilation, and death compared to non-pregnant individuals.

Throughout the pandemic, I worked in inpatient acute care and, on occasion, cared for pregnant patients in the ICU. It is profoundly traumatic—for families and care teams alike—when an infant is discharged home while the mother remains on life support.
